Marcie Bazor founded Blake’s House in 2014 prompted by her work with CASA and the adoption of their oldest daughter. The Bazor family adopted Stacy from the foster care system at the age of eighteen, and through that process, became aware of the hardships children who “age out” of foster face. Fifty-one percent of them end up homeless, in jail, or dead within one year of leaving care at age eighteen. Finding that unacceptable, Tim and Marcie Bazor began Blake’s House. It provides a safe, loving environment for young women to transition from foster care to independent living. Blake’s House is a private home located in Plano, TX that receives its non-profit status through Jim Riley Outreach, Inc., (the parent non profit) that has been running for almost thirty years.
